Property Tax Clearance

    Hi,

I recently bought a house in February and my socilitor applied for a tax clearance certificate so I can get my name added to the title deeds.

So far, I haven't heard anything back from the Revenue office and my socilitor isn't pushed to follow it up with them. How long does it typically take to receive one of these?

    Hey,

A tax clearance normally takes up to 10 working days depending on what time of the year it is.

How did you apply, by paper or online?

My socilitor applied on my behalf. I am getting worried as she ignores my emails and the last time I spoke to her on the phone, she told me "what's the rush".

If I were you it would be no harm to contact your local tax office, give them your PPS number and look for an update on your tax clearance request. They could have lost the form or your solicior may not have applied for it, either way you will get an answer. If they have not received it, you can apply online very easily https://www.revenue.ie/itp/identification.jsp

    Best of luck

Normally a vendor has to apply for a Property CGT Clearance Cert if the proceeds exceed €500k.

Why do you need a tax clearance cert to register the property in your name.
