Does anyone know when the first social welfare legislation was introduced to Ireland (and presumably Great Britain)?...and whether there is any good sources in relation?. When was the old age pernsion, widows pension, childrens allowanace and modern day dole introduced?.

I'm tracing my roots and my greatx2 grandmother was widowed young, I'm wondering if she had any welfare entitlements and if not when they emerged.
