Map Printing

I did a quick search on the forums to make sure I wasnt rehashing old queries.

I'm just wondering if there is a web application or freebies that lets you print out maps and routes? I know that MapMyRun lets you do it if you pay for the service or supscription, but I'm just looking for something simple that I can load up a route from MapMyRun or google earth and print it off for free. Some race events are providing a MapmyRun link to their routes instead of a printable file. Would be handy to have a hard copy to look over every now and again to get familiar with the route.

    Hi Aimman,

Google maps lets you print the full map, but I dont think it has the facility to upload a route from a file, so you would need to map it out again (I may be wrong in that)

    Aimman,

You could try www.bikehike.co.uk. It allows printing and it's very easy to use.

    Hope it works for you.

Well, you could try Mapsource, along with OSM maps. You could export the route from mapmyrun (as GPX), and then import it into Mapsource and print it, to your hearts content. Not sure it will have the level of detail you require though. Sample result (IMRA half-marathon plod route):

If you want me to type up instructions for installing mapsource and OSI, let me know. There's a few hoops you have jump through. But it's a great product for plotting routes, and the OSM map updates are open-source.

Hey, do you mean OSM (open street maps)?

Cheers Guys. I just tried bikehike and works well. I'll give Mapsource a go later when I have a bit of time. :D
