Yea, a month is tight if you want to do all 'hot spots'. If you have a plan and stick to it it'd be fine. A week in Vietnam might be tight. You could do 10 days in Vietnam, few in Laos then the bones of two weeks in Thailand, or whatever depending on which county you want to see more. I'd spend most of the time in VietNam but it's up to you.

I had two weeks in Thailand and I thought it was enough - did a bit of Bangkok, some great day tours from there. then got the train up Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. I did only do a day excursion there though, some people like 3 days so you may need more time than me.

Then I got a cheap flight down south to the islands for a few days. Some will say it's too short a time but I had fun!
