Good Arbing Opportunity

Arbitrage betting is not my forte and is only something I've recently even started looking at but I think I've spotted a good one here : (see attachment)

Backing the under 662.5 on Skybet and over 655 on Stanjames bring up a book of 97.89% but the GREAT thing is not only do you have a guaranteed underround, but if the corner count actually finishes somewhere in the middle of thos 2 lines, you win both bets.

Now I'm not sure what the max limits are in each book but interesting none the less.

    Theres your big limitation.

A lot of firms will close your account if they think you are just arbling.

basicly its where 2 or more bookmakers offer odds on an event where if you put money on all selections, regardless of the outcome you'll win. i.e if you have a tennis match and And PP are offering 11/10 on Player A and Bet365 offer 11/10 On player B, If you were to put €100 on both outcomes you'd have profit of €10 no matter which player won:)

while arbing in theory works theres no guarantee you can get the big bets down and what happens if you get one big bet on and you cant get the other one on

Good point on not being able to get big bets on... never thought of it that way...

Many of you back and lay on betfair??

l always taught arbing was backing in the bookies then laying off at smaller odds in the exchanges

Lumped to the max. Potential payout of €1,942.50 or €96.50.

    Thanks OP! :D

    Come on 656-662 corners!

so if say you put €100 on each of those two bets and the corner count come under 655 you will win the skybet bet and get back €172, leaving you with a loss of €28 overall?

no you adjust your stakes, ie maybe put €130 on unders and €70 on overs, this is only an example:)

There are various arb calculators around to help you out with the stakes you must use:

    Here is a simple 1

Just put in the total you wish to stake across the 2 bets and the odds and the calulator will tell you how much to stake on each to leave you with the same guaranteed profit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 522 ✭✭✭ValueSeeker

For example, If you wanted to stake (invest) 5k, you would put 2,955 on the unders @ 1.73 and 2,045 on the overs @ 6/4 and you will get a return of 5,112 whatever happens.

Unless of course it happens to be somewhere in between the lines, then it's happy days...

Don't want to be posting up my stakes but I got mate to top up bet for me so potential profit has changed to €138.24 or €2762. Ye should be able to work it out from that. Oh and Skybet have dropped odds to 4/6 so probably not worth the arb now!

And it's zero risk which means I won't make a loss. Worse case scenario is I get my stake back.

    I found a potential problem in this bet;
stanjames says extra time corners do not countn and skybet say they do1

That would be the first time I've ever heard of extra time counting for anything like this. I smell something foul.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 522 ✭✭✭ValueSeeker

If they had intended from the off to include extra time, surely theit line would have been far far higher.

Pimpho, if this is the case, you may have to lay off your bets and get out.

Ya it's usually 90mins betting for bets like this. I'm a bit sceptical myself.

I'd suggest to anyone who has taken this to check this out with the 2 sportsbooks and if it is the case, you should lay off your bets now. You will have to take a small loss.

It's not worth the risk to let it ride. Both bets can lose if there are 2 different results.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 522 ✭✭✭ValueSeeker

They've both now adjusted their odds to cancel out any arb if it's settled on 90 mins only. That means anyone who's taken it could now get out pretty much level as the odds have drifted on the other side of the coin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 470 ✭✭PIMPHO

Adamski8 is correct. SJ bet doesn't include Extra Time Corners. Managed to cancel both bets in the end so no real harm done! Phew.

    Apologies Adamski8 for doubting you.

    Pimpho, you living in Ireland?

I havn't been able to log into my skybet account for months. Something to do with ISP - it thinks I'm trying to access it from the Netherlands or something.

Problem is in my area, not just my computer.

Anyone else having / had this problem with skybet?

I can't get the homepage up at all, never mind log in. Does the home page come up for the rest of you?

    Skybet

Just rand up and asked them as I went through Oddscheckers and the betting slip for SJ did not state that it was 90 mins only etc and said the opposite to Skybet.

    Why did you back it?

Yeah, only saw that it was/n't ET after i bet!
    good thinking

SJ should cancel it for you no probs if you tell them that you were under the assumption that ET was included and that you went through Oddschecker website and when the betslip popped up, there were no details & rules for this bet but you can see that it was outlined clearly on the SJ website. Genuine mistake, goodwill gesture can you please cancel?

Might be a bit trickier with Skybet though but just be nice and say it was a genuine mistake and that you went through Oddschecker and again goodwill gesture, please cancel etc.

    Goodluck!

Kick in the nads as it would have been a super bet!
