Guidance Counselling versus Counselling

Hi, I've been offered a place on a Guidance counselling post grad but I'm wondering how much counselling is involved in this type of career - is it more directive focusing completely on career issues or is there more involved.? I'm weighing it up against the general counselling and psychotherapy diploma (IACP recognised) so would love to hear from someone that has completed the above so they can give me more insight. Thanks
