if they were all dead , what was the whole island about ???

and the rest of them who escaped on the plane did they escape or are they dead too?

Also the pilot is he dead as he wasnt in the church but he was on the island ?

also what happen charles Whitmore and was he dead ...

If the island didn't exist, then Lost would have been 30 mins long in total. The directer milked it a bit.

List to Christian again, he said everyone dies eventually. So the meet in the church was after they have all died, however long that might be (maybe thousands of years for Hurley), and not in 2004, which is when Claire had Aaron.

The whole sideways bit was never real.

They weren't dead the whole time, they were only dead in the "back / forward flashes" of the final series.

Notice how in this alternate reality they took the same positions as they did on the Island, e.g. Sawyer and the Asian looking guy were Cops. On the island they were security guards for a long period.

The people who were in the church were there because the events on the island were the most important time of their lives. Maybe those who weren't in the church didn't regard their time on the island that important.

The island was real. Their lives and deaths on the island were real. The FST was actually after their deaths and when they were ready they moved on. It didn't have to show everyone moving on, just the main characters.
