    Hey there!

So I just signed my contract with Sabis to work as a teacher in Dubai city inthe United Arab Emirates. I know a bit about the place, as a few of my cousins have lived there for a few years. I've heard they hire a lot of Irish people, so i'm wondering if there's anyone who's moving to UAE, or know of someone? Would be nice to talk with someone else going!

there's a lot to know about the local customs, traditions and (sometimes very strict) laws.

    are you male or female?

i'm female. Ye, i've researched it, and heard from a lot of family living there (female also.) Dubai is the most westernised of the Emirates, and probably middle Eastern countries, but obviously strict cultural laws have to be respected etc. I'm really looking forward to it!

What teaching you gonna do? and what qualifications you have?

Dubai has its cons, but it TROUNCES a place like Oz!

Who'd of thought it's more likely to feel Christmassy in Dubai and not Oz!

As you said, Dubai is the most liberal Emirate

Just be careful if you plan any day trips to Sharjah or Abu Dhabi

The former epsecially have common decency laws, strictly enforced!

As long as you don't plan on sunbathin in the nip, you'll be fine

    Good luck :D

Hello all. I am contracted to a school in Ras-al Khaimah for the coming year. I was just wondering if anyone has been there before and if so what they thought of the place. Also haven't received my flight details as yet - but I've heard that they should be sent to me around the end of the month? If anyone knows of any info that could help I would greatly appreciate it, and would really like to talk to someone who has done it before! Thanks in advance - and I must admit I am gettin' excited now!!

    Hi all,
I was just wondering if any of you had feedback with regards to teaching in Dubai? I am in my final year of my undergraduate degree and am seriously considering taking a year out to teach in Dubai before I begin my postgraduate degree. It seems that an undergrad degree is enough and that nearly anyone who applies seems to be offered a job so I am really wondering if there is a catch to it?

    Hi all,

Totally fascinated about how easy it is to get teaching in UAE. Some of the websites say min of 2 years experience, for e.g. teachanywhere..teachaway etc

I've got a B.Sc., M.Sc. and a PhD, can't get any work here in Ireland and have given up looking to be honest. I've applied to NUIG to do the postgraduate diploma in education in 2013/14 year. Just wondering what are the likely chances of me getting a position in Dubai? Or even realistic salary with no teaching experience?

I won't graduate until June 2014, I know I would need to be applying Jan 2014 for positions with the recruitment companies..

Just wondering are Biology and general Science for second level schools in much demand, even if as I will then have no actual post qualification teaching experience?

    Thanks all...
