I bought a UK Freesat from Sky card on ebay before for 20quid and it allows me to record the fta channels but not the ftv channels.

I presume it wont recordt the ftv channels as the box is not maried to the specific card.

So anyway this proves you can have the sky+ feature without a sky sub technically if you get a UK freesatfrom sky card.

    Yeah, up north: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5321564/Trail/searchtext%3EFREESAT.htm

I presume it's still cheaper to get kit from B&Q and give dish away for free on adverts...

I tried a month ago to get one of these in Argos and they were out of stock.
AFAIK this is still the case.

Offical freesat HD boxes are much better value, they can be bought for just a few quid more or even less than these types of kits. Also alot of people don't know they can use their existing sky dish without any modification at all.

The amount of time wasted on scanning, rescanning and deleting the crap channels on these free to air boxes is unreal, plus you don't get 7 day EPG (program guide) only now and next.

Freesat boxes = better value , 7 day epg , automatic updates so no rescans required and series link on some if not all models.
