Are you speculating or have you done some analysis to justify the investment?

I have monitored the share price over the lasy yr and it seems to go between 2:50eur to 2:90eur on Tuesday. I know that the farmers were trying to buy back some of Glanbia and run it as a seperate but I feel that with the current economic crises that farming maybe of the industries that will start us on the road to recovery along with the food industry. I know I would have to invest heavily to return any decent margin but I feel that they are worth looking at. do you have any share with Glanbia no Avonmore listening to my Dad too much lately about them

No I have not. But I can give you an outline my approach to investing in something like this, I'm very much a value investor by the way.

The main question I would be asking myself is what is the share really worth, not what it is trading at and is it really cheap or does it just look cheap.

If I found it to be trading at about 30% below what I think it is worth then I would go further and look at how this company will fair going forward:
    - Does it have sufficient capital to do the business
    - What is product portfolio like
    - What are the management like
    - Does it have some strong advantages over it's competitors
    - Is there potential for me to double my money in 5 years
    and so on

If I'm happy with all of this then I will consider putting my money in to it.

All of this of course is a lot of work and as a result I usually only make one or two large investments in the year and in some cases if I can't find the right opportunity, I just horde me cash..

Right now I'm looking at Coca-Cola Hellenic: based in Greece of course! It a Coke bottling company that holds the rights to most of Eastern Europe and Russia as well as Greece and Ireland. Most Coke bottling companies do very well if bought at the right price which is why I'm looking into it. Last time round it was Coca Cola FEMSA in Mexico in 2000.

If I get some time over the weekend I'll look quick look at Avonmore

    Jim
