Anyone have any feedback on this store? Old threads complain about the service there. Just wondering if anything has changed?

Depends on who you get serving you to be honest. There's a good lad there called Ross, works part time who I've found helpful.
Generally I'd say they were good.....put it this way I've had no bad experiences with them.

It's pretty average service wise, but standard enough for McGuirks. Usually there is a team of them standing around chatting rather than making any effort to be helpful.

I'd say it is better than Blanch though, if only because it's smaller so there are less of them to stand around chatting.

    well I disagree

I have been up there an awful lot and bought plenty from them over the years. I find them all very helpful. Yeah agreed sometimes you go in and they are standing around talking, eh so would I be if nobody was in the shop, however I have never been ignored by any of the guys up there so they could finish chatting to each other so just dont see that argument.

All in all they are very helpful imo and dont try push you into anything, yet offer lots of advice and opinions, exactly what I am looking for !!

I've gone there for all my golf stuff and find them to be very helpful.
I've dealt mainly with Roger, who is sound and helpful (if somewhat very laidback)

Shame they don't sell the Footjoy GTX glove though.

went in there a few weeks ago, the large gentleman asked if i needed any help , I explained i was just looking for advice on a hybrid , he recomended 1 or 2 and INSISTED i try them , Explained to him i was only teasing myself and more looking for advice on them , After giving the 2 of them a bash i comented on how nice the Taylormade felt , He then said i'll leave it at the till for me , No need i said i won't be buying for a week or 2 , well he went bright red and started crapping on about wasting his time ... Rather embarassing

Heres one less person now shopping in American Discount Dundrum ...

Its a good golf shop! Personally i think there should be more of them! But if you have an idea what your after, or spend some time on google first.. You cant go wrong. I found the plentiful staff gave the minimal amount of information when asked!

But i think that was a sunday.. hangovers might have been a factor :P

At least Mcguirke's and Halpenny bother with a website. It really bugs me how Nevada Bobs and American Golf only have their British sites.

Only ever bought one club in McGurks Leopardstown (Ping G5 driver about 4ys ago) and the chap I dealt with (I wanna say Dave Carr??) was spot on. Traded in two battered old clubs against it and he done me a nice deal. Decent club too!

American Golfs Website has a euro price link, Nevada Bob's UK Website is a separate franchise.

    This is true I understand.

It is best to buy in mainland europe or online I feel.
Bargains can be achieved if you search.
Mcgurk is celtic tiger shop I feel.
