Just wondering does the JSA get back dated straight away or do you have to go into them and plead for it back? My claim finally went through last week after 11 weeks and have to cellect first payment this wednesday. Thing is I owe a ton of money to everyone including the bank who are now threatening with a court case if i cant produce the money soon.

Im getting the full rate of JSA so will they give me 11 weeks worth in one payment or is that asking too much of them?? (and no i never got any SWA or money from CWO in those 11 weeks)

    any constructive reply is appreciated

Im afraid it seems to vary in my experience, i.e. When my application for JSB was processed it was back payed by posted cheque. When application to change to JSA was processed I enquired several times in local office before it was paid without warning in post office. Thus id advise you to enquire about it in your local welfare office. I would expect you will get all 11 weeks together but you will likely have to wait a while for it.

i got a letter in post this morning confirming the amount il be getting paid, when il first collect it and the collection day thereafter.

It also says on it that i am entitled to be paid the amount written on it from 2 March 2010 and then under that it says any money owed to you that is not paid with your first payment will be with you shortly afterwards

If it's a large payment a manager may have to look over the claim to make sure everything is in order before the money can issue to you. So it may take a week or two.
