I remember several horror stories about them a couple of years back but I really fancy getting this Sony Vaio laptop from them.

Also if anyone has a suggestion for a better/as good laptop around the same price, I'd welcome it. Cheers.

Haven't used them myself but there seem to be mixed reviews about around here (see thread). Having said that, that is the best price for that laptop I've seen afaik, was nearly going to buy one myself but I wanted to do some gaming (e.g. Bad Company 2) and the GPU isn't the best for it (of course, this means the battery life will be better). There doesn't seem to be much competing at this price point, the Dell Studio 15 might be worth a look (can customize to get a better cpu etc. but no blu-ray player), or the Acer 5740G (better GPU, but worse... everything else!)

What are the warranty arrangements when buying from laptopsdirect.ie ? Are they recognised by Sony ?

Don't forget this little fact as well, you get it on checkout.

The above Euro pricing is a guide only. The conversion rate used to show this amount is £1.00 to €1.20. The actual amount that you'll be charged will depend on the conversion rate at the time of despatch plus any surcharges levied by your credit or debit card company.

That and the fact they are charging UK VAT when they legally have to charge Irish is the reason why it seems like there is such a difference in price to other stores. Yes they are cheaper, but it is not as much as it looks like.
