music in my itunes wont go into a new folder in my desctop on my mac

as above, im selling my mac and i have important photos and loads and loads of music i dont want to loose!! but when i made a new file to put all the music from my itunes into on my desktop and when i click and drag my selected items they dont drop into the folder , the icons with the green plus sign does not appear?? everything in one folder will clicked and draggend onto a external hard drive and then put on my new mac, that was my plan but i cant get my music into a folder to start of with !!

can anybody help?? cheers

The music should be in your iTunes folder in the Music folder already. Copy and Paste that.

Just be careful of point 15 with this method. Make SURE there is enough space on the destination storage device.
