    Any English teachers out there with suggestions for a third text to compare with How many miles to Babylon and the KiteRunner?
    What about The Lonesome West or Atonement?

    Not an english teacher but we did 'the kite runner' and 'atonement'.

    That's two novels. To make your study and essays more interesting, I'd suggest a play like The Lonesome West, A Doll's House or Sive or a film e.g. Billy Eliot or Casablanca. Are you studying by yourself?
