Anyone know what this race is like? or if they have team prizes?

Seems to be a good race.

    Thanks

this is a very fast 5k. very good course for Pb's.
    a small loop around Johnstownbridge.

Thanks I was looking at last years times and they seem very quick.

Thanks for the doc. 1 teams prize with 3 to score.

Think I'll head down and give it a go.

I did it last year GM and can recommend it - good fast course (my current pb) and chip timing (from gun to finish). The start last year was about a mile (?) from the registration so leave yourself plenty of time. Disappointed not to able to do it this year.

Nice fast course. 12 euro on the night and chip timing included. Savage value. I'm heading down as well have done it twice before and have always clocked relatively fast times. Hopefully we'll get an evening like this evening.

Well done to Na Fianna on a well organised race. The weather was great and the course was flat and fast.
The text afterwards with my time was a nice touch

Agreed, with the amount of over priced / poorly organised races these days races like the Ni Fianna 5K should be held up as examples of how to get it right and provide great value, organisation and a great course.

Just outside my target but I really enjoyed running in the countryside of a Tuesday evening.

I second this. I'm going to contact Woddle to see if he will add a poll to this thread so we can rate this race 5 out of 5 for me.

I had a decent race myself. Was hoping to run 15.5X but just missed out and hit 16 minutes dead. Legs felt great but had a very stodgy meal at lunch time and it messed with my stomach a bit. Had to ease off in the second mile and lost 7-10 seconds I shouldn't have.

This course is really fast. It's the fastest I've ever ran. I think it's even faster than the Rathfarnham 5k and if it got the same caliber field as Rathfarnham some absolute savage times would be run. The route itself is really nice, there is a mile jog to the start for the registration in the hotel. This road is quite busy but was marshaled very well. Once the race started we took a turn off the main road and were running on traffic free roads.

Race entry was 12 euro on the night (10 for pre-entries) and included chip timing. The first 100 to register got t-shirts also. There was plenty of tea/coffee, biscuits and sandwiches afterwards as well.

Not only was the race cheap to enter I reckon all entry fees taken in were distributed back out in prizes. There were 4 individual male/female prizes. 3 teams prizes male/female and prizes in all vet categories. At the finish some professional race organisers were handing out flyers for their forthcoming races. I had to laugh they cost twice as much as last nights race and I don't think much of the entry fee goes back to the runner IMO.

Great job as usual Na Fianna. For anybody considering running a race this Summer check out the remaining races on the Meath road league calendar. They are of the same quality as last nights.

What were the times last night, sound like a good night, and a good race. are the results up anywhere?

Think you passed me out in the 3rd kilometer. I almost caught back up but you had more left in the last 500 :)

Andrew Ledwith won in a time of 15:12. He was hardly breathing :)

There is some good pictures on RacePix

They said times wont go up online but can be gotten via email. I don't know who to email however.

Yep that was me. I actually put the foot down with 500 to go and felt like I was flying until some guy flew by me and left me for dead.

Actually just looked at racepix and there is a pic of said guy flying by me. There is also a photo of me and I look like I've basically snotted myself. I need to work on my form when I get tired looking at the race video after the race last night I look like Paula Radcliffe on speed. My head was bobbling like the Churchill `dog

Ledwith looked really comfortable, at one stage I was expecting him to take out a cigar and have a victory puff or two.

I think they said Leanne Heffernan was the contact but I'm not too sure. A friend of my runs for Na Fianna so I'll ask him and attach the results when I get them.

Sounds like a great race. Congrats on a superb time TheRoadRunner (just saw it on the best of '10 thread). Is that your best over the distance?

Cheers no I've ran 15.40 before. Haven't done any speed work yet though so hopefully once I get the finger out I might be able to run a pb.
