03 reg vauxhall vectra, one of the water drainage gullys in the car got blocked with leaves approx 1 year ago, water diverted into car as a result, wet fllor, pool of water. cleared leaves let pool dry off, some minor probs with the instruments i.e. speedometer and dielsel gauge failing momentarily but coming back on in a few seconds.last night, was driving instruments failed and steeriring wheel very heavy heavy like when car ignition not on at all.turned off car, nothing happened at all. when i disconnect battery and hold my foot on the brake for a few seconds after reconnecting battery it seems to reset and start again? any ideas whats wrong, its obviously something electrical. thanks

Vectra's have a CANBUS system which is notorious for odd-ball faults. As the PAS went first, I wonder do you have a faulty alternator or slipping drive belt?

when i turn the key nothing happens, its completely silent, i dont think its a battery/alternator issue becuause when i disconnect the battery and reconnect it it starts as normal .ie the battery isnt flat...thats why i think its a circuit issue. my friend thinks it might be a broken wire going to a controller. would that make sense?
