How to preserve Seaweed???

Hi folks, came across a piece of seaweed today and really want to keep it for personal reasons (sounds weird but it's actually a nice story!).

So I said I'd try in here in Arts and Crafts on the off chance that there might be artists who would know how to keep a piece of seaweed. Fyi, it's the type of seaweed that's like bubbles. It's very dry, crispy (think some people eat it).

    Thanks for reading.

    K.

i'm not really sure what you mean by ''keep'' - do you mean just to dry it out? i grew up beside the sea and in my experience leaving out in the sun is the best [only?!] way to dry seaweed - ie - take it somewhere dry and airy and leave it there. but don't let it get rained on.

but do you mean how to display it?? i would leave it in the sun till it's completely and utterly dry, then leave it on a radiator/hot windowsill for another week just to make sure, then get yourself a deep box-style picture frame and hot glue-gun it to the mounting board at the back of the frame??

hope i took you up right ;)

Hey artyeva, thanks a million for that. Very helpful.

Basically, there was a lovely shape in the seaweed that we found on a beach yesterday and we want the piece of seaweed to stay the way it is and not wither and die like a plant does. Not sure if seaweed decays in the same manner but want to prevent it happening if it does.

    Thanks again :)

    ah, ok, cool!! :D

it will wither a bit as the water evaporates - maybe shrinkage would be a better term but it won't die like say, a flower would. expect a bit of unpredictable shrinkage.
