Empty gafs around the place

Today, while out for a fag in the splendid sunshine, I noticed that the abandoned house a few doors down from me had a few open back windows.

Given that my lease is about to expire, I might go in for a look and maybe change the locks. I know 12 years is a long time but surely a lot of these property developers have emigrated with the recession, so no one may know who owns any empty houses

Has anyone here squatted? Get much hassle? Any empty houses up your way?

If you keep a low profile while your there you might get away with it but what about gas and electricity etc?

Have thought about that, asked a few people around who owns it and no-one seems to know, so don't know if the neighbours would be able to report to anyone if they knew someone was living there. I wonder would one of those new crowds like Airtricity just connect me?

Has anyone ever gotten in trouble from the cops for squatting? I know all of the laws regarding it, and thus am going in an open window without causing any criminal damage, but if your average Biddy middle aged woman cop bad time of the month hadn't seen a willy in weeks type of cop arrived on your doorstep this may not mean much to her

Going in an open window of someone else's gaff is still breaking and entering..

You could always invite her into your 'new pad' for some 'coffee'

If you are in the middle of the country maybe, if you are in a city, or somewhere where the land will have any worth, then you will probably be turfed out and done for property damage.
