referal letters for private clinics

1st time poster long time reader, forgive me if this covered else were, does anyone know if you need a referal letter to go to a private dermotology clinic e.g. beacon clinic st james private hosp urgently (tomorrow) or do you just ring to make an appointment to see a specialist? thanks

Ring them up but usually its a GP referral, and a very long wait even privately.

It depends on the consultant, but as Traumadoc said, you'll usually need a referral and then have to wait, unfortunately. If there's a few consultants there I'd suggest finding out what each one's waiting list is like before getting a letter, as they can vary considerably even within the one practice.

thanks again all i did need a ref letter and got the appointment for this thursday in the charlemont clinic.
