Hey just wondering is it very hard to get jobs during the INTRA year due to the recession? I'll be in BS2 next year, results just average nothing special so just wondering what the chances are of me finding something?

A couple of people didn't get jobs in the relatively safe computing industry last year. This includes myself, but I wanted the summer off and thus didn't bother, so I don't count.

I do Marketing and we get similar placements as BS.

I'm on Intra at the moment and everyone in my course got a job.... eventually.

My advice is dont be to picky about what you do - The idea of intra isnt to get your ideal job. It is to prepare you for the workplace.

Very good advice. I did a horrible job down the country for an American firm and I didn't want it at all. A few years later I got a job in the same US City as the firm's HQ. It's pretty much that biggest company in it's sector over there and the fact I had experience with them landed me a nicer job at a better company.

People have been scrounging around for over a year for employment, people with very good experience and education too. Anything that will make you more employable when you graduate is a good thing. Don't be picky, even if it's crap pay or crap location. It's only 12 months.
