On today at 2pm live on tv. Thinking of backing Meath in the handicap -3 points at 4/5.
Anyone have any opinions on this game as im not that well up on the GAA.

wo teams who did little to impress during the league will be hoping to kickstart their summer at Portlaoise on Sunday. Meath finished comfortably in mid-table in Division 2, while a final-day defeat to Louth saw Offaly finish a lowly sixth in the third tier.
Sunday's clash between the sides will be their first Championship encounter with each other since 2000.

The intervening decade has not been kind to either of them, with the notable exception of Meath's Leinster success in 2001. However, even that season ended in disappointment for the Royals with a heavy defeat to Galway in the All-Ireland.
Offaly last tasted provincial success in 1997 under the watchful eye of Tommy Lyons, but they have struggled to compete in recent years.
The Faithful have gone with a mixture of youth and experience in midfield. Veteran Ciaran McManus will start his 15th Championship year alongside John Coughlan. The 24-year-old, who plays with St Sylvester's in Dublin, has opted to throw his lot in with the Midlanders having failed to get beyond the fringes of the Metropolitans' squad. He is a nephew of Eugene Coughlan, a star of the great Offaly hurling teams of the 1980s.
Manager Tom Cribben has also been able to name the ever-reliable Niall McNamee at corner-forward after the Rhode clubman shook off a quad muscle complaint.
Meath reached the All-Ireland semi-finals in 2007 and 2009, but their success in the qualifiers only came after disappointing showings in Leinster.
However with Dublin in a transitional period and Kildare stagnating somewhat, this year offers the Royals a great chance to reassert themselves in the eastern province. Cribben said he watched Meath beat Galway in a recent challenge game and was taken aback by the size of Eamonn O'Brien's men.

Meath boss O'Brien could have problems with his defensive spine, as he is sweating on the fitness of full-back Kevin Reilly and centre-back Cormac McGuinness. Both men have hamstring problems.

The absence of both players would be a huge fillip for Offaly, but it is still hard to see them having what it takes to record their first win in Leinster since 2007.

    Verdict: Meath

From RTE. Sounds like they should win. There's also alternative handicapps on PP if you don't fancy -3

Meath should win this. They have possibly the best forwards in the country. But they can be inconsistent. Their midfield is looking decent this year. Just a bit dodgy at the back though. I can see it being close enough for maybe the first half. But over 70 minutes i just can't see Offaly measuring them point for point. Especially after the league season they had.

I have them myself today in a double from the Milan game and a treble from 2 other games yesterday. Went for -2 handicap instead though.

Here's a discussion about it on this forum

Been some good value on the in play betting. Meath to score over 20.5 points was 2.37 when they were on 15 points. Put 1000 on it. That was garaunteed money. well still 2 points to go but they should get them. Offaly were down to 14 men and there was over 20 minutes left

Thank fook for that goal near the end. I was sweating bullets here. Hitting the bar twice at the end and then going for goal rather than a point. Really thought i was gonna eat my words and look like an idiot.

That's 2 great days in a row now.

Haha yeah i've just been used to betting on soccer lately.

Anyways it came up lose. Trying to say goals don't count but it didn't say it anywhere. A goal is 3 points. Arguing my point with them now.

Bastards told me that it is coming up as not settled on their end. Clearly says lose on my end. There was no disclaimer saying goals don't count like there does be for soccer when they say '90 mins only' above it. In a sport like GAA where plenty people measure the total points by adding the goals and points scored together a disclaimer should be included. Told me to get back on to them. At the very least i want my grand back. Or should i argue further to get my winnings?

Also it was actually over 21.5 points but it's still a winner. Must have changed when i had it added.

Just put 500 on Tyrone to score more than 17.5 points at 1.83. Reckon they should do it. Only 10 points away with over 55 minutes to go.

Went up to 18.5 at 2.25. Stuck 300 on that as well. Tyrone are playing good and the value is great. Well worth a look at.

Antrim under 12.5 pts at 4/6 now on PP, Just put 300 on it, i think its a good thing, should be around 1/2 on.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 12,333 ✭✭✭✭JONJO THE MISER

Now under 11.5 at 10/11, no way Antrim will score 7 in 2nd half, im gonna throw 220 on that.... fingers crossed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,341 ✭✭✭El Horseboxo

Antrim's confidence should be shot now and Tyrone are on fine form. I can't see Antrim putting 13 on the board. Reckon it should come off for ye Jonjo unless Tyrone take the foot off the pedal in the second half and start making substitutions. Happened in the Meath game earlier.

Jaysus finally. Tyrone went to sleep. That's 916.67 in the bag anyways. Come on. One more point Tyrone.
