Advice on ferries over to UK from Dublin/Dun Laoghaire

Never having traveled on the ferry I'm finding the cost of a return from Dublin to the UK averaging at €400 for 2 adults and a campervan with Stenna Line and Irish Ferries.
Is there a Ryanair of ferries which I can't find? or any tricks to get a cheaper fare?

    Thanks :D

I think the campervan and leaving it so late (especially now with some flights being cancelled due to the ash) €400 would be a fairly decent price.

If you using this a landbridge to the continent then you could look at the option of a direct sailing. Otherwise maybe look at Roslare or Belfast.

i am afraid that that is a cheap as the get.
the price is dictated by the size of the vehicle and since there are only 2 or 3 ferry companies operating in the irish sea there is not much competition.

One way of reducing the price is to use your Tesco vouchers. Each €1 voucher is worth €4 against Irish Ferries and Stena.

The downside is that you need to gather your vouchers and send them to Tesco and they will send back a specific voucher for you, which you in turn send to the respective ferry company.

Which is why I don't do this.... But it may help.
