With regards to Egypt, alcohol is available in all major hotels and many restaurants and the odd little pub. I wouldn't bother getting Egyptian pounds(L.E.) until you get there, you'll get a far better rate of exchange in Egypt.

As to clothes, shorts and t-shirt are acceptable in most places in Egypt. Cairo in particular is pretty westernised in comparison with Luxor and Aswan where the traditional Gallabeyah are still to be seen. You'll have to remove your shoes if you're going into a mosque.

And the overnight train from Cairo to Aswan is some craic,it's a sight in itself!:p

Can't help you with Jordan unfortunately.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea,a few small bottles and a hip flask and you're sorted!;)

And i reckon Cesc will stay.

Will do the stock up of beverages;)

Whats Cairo airport like as I believe you get the visa there and pay for it there and then? Still in research mode as I try to get as much info as I can

Never got it in Cairo but got it in Luxor many times. Usually you can buy them at the Bureau de Change counter in arrivals. Cheaper and quicker than buying before you go.

The advantage of applying for an Egyptian visa in Dublin is they can give you a multi-entry, I don't believe the multi- is issued at ports of entry in Egypt.
    Also peace of mind.
As lord lucan says the single entry is cheaper at airport(s).

A simialar thread (with similiar posters).

Clotheswise make sure you have 3/4 lengths. A cap or hat of some sort to keep the sun off your head and sturdy footwear for Petra.

Ok so its going to be Hot Hot Hot to quote Robert Smith:D. Forgot about the previous trade I started. That was the initial now I have booked it

Stella Export is nice gear,a bit more punch than the Stella Local. Stella,Sakara and Meister are all much cheaper than Heineken and Carlsberg. Particularly in hotels.
