I know the standard answer is "ask your doctor", but I don't think he'd appreciate a call at midnight for two stupid questions.

If you're to go in fasting for a GA from a certain time, does that include water?
I seem to remember that you shouldn't wear nail varnish, but does that include toe nails as well, or just finger nails? And what's behind that? Are they checking circulation by pressing on the nails, or do surgeons just have an objection to frippery?

I think the nail polish thing has something to do with a pulse oximeter reading on your finger being less accurate if you're wearing nail polish.

Yes, afraid fasting does include water :(The nail polish thing is just a hygiene issue really in case chips of it come off anywhere.

Fasting for an operation generally means avoiding both food and water.
