Noticed this earlier today, they had Factor 30 SPF for about €3

Does anyone know if this is as good as the normal stuff which sell in Boots etc for a lot more?

Have the kids high protection one here for my daughters.

It has a five star UVA protection rating and UVB protection too. Cost €2.70... had it on both of them today and not an ounce of sunburn to be seen and the eldest would have been out in the sun for a good couple of hours (4 hours maybe?).

If anyone's looking for the cheapest brand name factors - Heatons have Amber Solaire very cheap (can't remember exactly what because typically I'd already bought mine). Tesco have Nivea 200ml creams for about €6.50. Everywhere else they are buy one get one free or half price, which works out more expensive!

Yep, I got Factor 50 Face suncream and F50 Body Milk (L'Oreal) for around 8e the lot.

This was Heaton's in the Crescent shopping centre in Limerick.

Picked up some Amber Solaire factor 50 in Heatons in Finglas, they also had Roc in a spray form. I think both were €6 each. Also large bottles of Amber Solaire after sun for €7.

its one of those products you should never buy at full RRP (another 2 are dishwasher tabs and baby-wipes) - there are always half-price or BOGOF deals on suncream.

BTW, I believe that once you go above factor 30, anything higher is fairly meaningless. In Australia (where they really know about this stuff) you're not allowed advertise anything as being higher than 30

Boots have their own brand factor 30 for €3.70 or there abouts

as far as i know it doesn't matter how high the sun factor is ,,it depends on how many stars are on it,,so i always look for the ones with 5 stars.

I bought a UK Freesat from Sky card on ebay before for 20quid

I suppose if you bought enough of them you could glue them to your body like scales.

I usually stock up in September for the following year when everyone's selling suncream off at a discount. Might give that Penny's stuff a try - anyone know how it goes with sensitive skin? Does it blend in well?

I bought a UK Freesat from Sky card on ebay before for 20quid and it allows me to record the fta channels but not the ftv channels.

I presume it wont recordt the ftv channels as the box is not maried to the specific card.

So anyway this proves you can have the sky+ feature without a sky sub technically if you get a UK freesatfrom sky card.

You could get fairly burnt from this alright, wear sunscreen......

the stars and the protection-factor indicate different things - the stars are for UVA (which doesn't cause sunburn, but does cause cancer) and the SPF is for UVB (which causes sunburn, and cancer).

Lidl and Aldi stuff is also top-notch as it has to pass very strict German quality standards. The good thing about buying large quantities at cheap prices is that you'll tend to lash the stuff on and keep lashing it on after coming out of the water etc - which is more than half the battle. I remember as a kid when my Mam would do the right thing, or so she thought, and buy the pricey big name stuff, but then use it so sparingly that she may as well have not bothered.

Anyone who buys at the end of the season for use the next season - fair enough so long as you don't break the seal on the bottles; especially so for any oil-lotions. Store them in a dry, dark cupboard.

This might be of interest to anyone buying suncreams etc, at least worth bearing in mind.

Tesco are selling their own brand 3 for €10.
I git 2 SPF30's and 1 SPF50 and they worked a treat on my two little fellas.
