So with the piss-take that is MacGruber been released it's just been announced that MacGuyver is gonna hit the big screen...

    But...

Jason Richman has been given the job to script the movie. This is the same fella who wrote the Nic Cage Bangkok Dangerous and the Chris Rock / Anthony Hopkins Bad Company. As well as an uncredited bit for Black Hawk Down. Doesn't fill me with the greatest of hope but there are worse writers in the business.

Unless Richard Dean Anderson is given the role I'll refuse point-blank to give this film any knowledge of existence. But.......the only other person I would even tolerate taking the role would be Sam Rockwell, that guy has some uncanny traits to the sarcastic tone MacGuyver had.

Anywho, what do you guys think? Who would you like to see fill the role if (and probably won't) RDA doesn't get to play the mullet-man again.

EDIT: Spelling Nazis are out in full force, I see :pac:

difficult to think of a suitable actor... Brad Pitt lol

not sure it would work as a modern movie... were there not one or two MacGyver movies before?

Given that McGruber has bombed there's a good chance that this could return to development hell.

It won't work without Richard Dean Anderson.

    He is MacGyver.

He's only 59, he could still do it.

    Oh the irony.

    59?? easy for him

He would need to get in shape though, he has gotten puggy since star gate
Either him or Nathan Fillion (But I link him to every movie, hoping that someone will listen)

I could see Jensen Ackles aka Dean from Supernatural in the role

It wouldn't be too much of a stretch for Matt Damon...

+1 for Nathan Fillion. He's definitely got the right hair for the job :P

I can see RDA having some role - say MacGyver* senior, patting Shia Le Bouf or Zac Efron on the shoulder, sending him out in to the world to do ... something.

    * yes, that's how it's spelt: no U.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. in all fairness MG is anti guns.
The A-Team was comical with the amount of guns fired and no one killed

Why oh why must Hollywood insist on re-making classic 80's tv. I wish they'd leave well alone.:(

McGyver is best left in the past.

Some fond memories of the show, but theres only so much escaping from a boat shed full of tools I can take.

I believe he was trying to disarm a nuclear bomb by turning a paperclip into a fork and eating it

He's let himself go, deservedly so, since his semi-retirement so I dont think he could pull it off. It would be great to see him given some role in the film though.

He's piled on the pounds!

Is that really RDA?? He must have stop all forms of exercise and forgot to reduce the carbs!

Hard to see this film being a success, but when Hollywood see a money spinner they wont let it pass

I forgot about this, RDA playing MacGyver for a Superbowl ad about 2 years ago:

    Awesome :pac:

I wouldn't be too happy about this coming out but if anyone could pull it off as MacGyver it would Nathan Fillion

He has the charm and cheese factor to make it like the original

As much as I love the show, I'm not sure it would translate well into the digital age. It would just end up lots of ridiculous Hollywood/CG-style hacking tomfoolery that would sicken any audience looking for a credible movie.

Anyone watch Burn Notice - Michael Westen is quite similar to Mac imo

No way. He's too much of a douche.

One of MacGyver's most prominent characteristics should be that he looks like a normal, likeable, natural guy. Westen's fake tan would be a big no-no imo.

I think RDA broke his leg or something, hence the weight gain.

When he broke his leg did gravy pour out, the size of him.

They should really just cast Nathan Fillion in everything tbh.

I think that he broke that during Stargate?
His action sequences got a lot less frequent after a mantioned injury

It will have to be a p-sstake. Probably have Ben Stiller in the lead.
