I was going through iTunes last night and when I clicked on the video section a big list of films appeared.
I didn't think they were selling films in iTunes in Ireland yet, when did this start?
Btw,there's some decent films there too, I got the usual suspects for €7.99,a bit pricey but great film.

Can I get a lead that connects iPhone to the tv so I can watch the films on there?
    It'd be fierce handy.

Yes you can. I don't know what lead it is though :( and I know that, when it's playing on the telly your iPhone screen is black. Better off (if you've loadsa cash) buying (and hacking) an Apple TV.

    It's available in argos:
    Composite one : http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=30001&catalogId=1500002201&langId=-1&searchTerms=ipod+composite
or Component (for hd tvs) http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=30001&catalogId=1500002201&langId=-1&searchTerms=COMPONENT+IPOD

It does come with a power adaptor as well...which is more handier for ipod/ipad users (as they don't get one with their device, and are like 30 euro to buy seperately)

I got mine for my ipod touch ages ago...and it was pretty handy :) Only really used it to watch my own music dvd rips..and music videos.
I would use it to watch films on my tv, however none of my digital copies of movies are in apple/iphone format and i can't be bothered to convert. (have a wdtv to play them though)
Would be pretty nice/perfect if you're playing from the iTunes store though!
