    Hello,

I want to get a commuter/hybrid bike for under €600. I've test cycled the Specialized Vienna (mid of range) - all was well except very clunky gear changes had to re-press levers to get them to engage , and chain slipped a bit.

Would like to avoid giant as didn't like the last one I had.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Cheers

What you describe is probably more due to the assembly and adjustment than the actual bike itself. Tell the person selling it the issue and see if they can fix it- try again. Obviously if they can't don't buy.

It's hardly a revolutionary suggestion but I have a Trek 7.2 FX (about €450) and it does the job very nicely. Direct link below to save you having to look at Lance's cheesy grin on the Trek homepage:

I have just ordered a Specialized as my first decent road bike, having test ridden a fair few of their competitors' offerings. I have never sat on one of their hybrids, so I wouldn't be putting you off.

The Vienna is actually a globe. Specialized to the sirus. The Vienna looks allot nicer, but is heavier and is more a town bike...

I had a Ridgeback Velocity before my road bike...still like to take it out every now and then....never let me down

I'm very happy with my Lapierre Rock. Got it for €600, but fenders and accessories are extra.
