If you're only gonna be using one account, Betfair will have the best odds for single. Their odds for sports multiples aren't the best (Except for horse multiples, which are great!)

    Think they've a €30 sign-up bonus atm as well.

hey phil, sorry if im hijacking your thread here
but i am interested in betfair aswel

    im interested in laying
can somebody explain a little bit how it works.

am i right in saying that
if i have a thousand euro.. i can offer 10/1 odds on a team not winning... and a person will take the bet at a maximum of 100 euros(which would be my winnings if outcome falls in my favour)

Alternatively you can sign up for 20 euro free bets on the betfair site. The offer is only available too new customers

I actually agree it can be awkward too navigate it does take a lot of gettin used too! I don't even notice it now tho and find it fairly simple too use! As was said above it's more so for singles betting the odds in general in football are 20% better and I'd say 30% on horses!

Made my Cheltenham this year got a tip for que card who was 20-1 in PP, backed him at 100-1 on betfair!

was he as short as 20s?

i know he won the race at 40/1

there is amazing odds on outsiders alright tho
if only i could pick one

I don't think Cue Card went less than 40/1 if I remember correctly.

Betfair is great for horses that are over 6/1 at least, Not so great for multiples, Plus the lack of best odds is hateful too.

Yep apologies he was 40's I just checked it out there had him on a lucky 15 in PP!i think betfair is just for singles really and even backing a horse each way can sometimes be hard too get better value on the exchange than traditional bookies! Have too say tho despite it's limitations I much prefer It over PP!

Don't forget that you'll be paying out the whole €1000 if it backfires

sign up man for gods sake..........better odds 9.9999 times outta 10.

note to anyone else who has just 1 betting account.....why in the name of god do you not have 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 accounts?

open up other accounts ppl! stop getting mugged by bookmakers by having just one account.and above all people......open a betfair account for gods sake!

forget about laying on betfair until you've spent a couple of months getting useta backing horses on it.

check out wayne bailey racing for some great advice and tips on betfair,he will give you all the advice you need to know.

    best of luck everyone.

laser card or credit card will do, avoid using the credit card though as it has a 1.5% charge on every deposit you do, no point in giving money away for nothing, use the laser card if possible

You can deposit with betfair brokers too, there's one in the ifsc in Dublin if you're near there....

I dont bet in ladbrokes anymore

twice ive been robbed of 5k+ accums.. i can only blame the results on them cursing me lol

in general i find my betting with them to be unlucky

    also
had a 600 bet on portugal to go through against england in last wc
they told me there was a mistake with the odds
and paid out some crap money... cant remember exactly but it was under 200

do Betfair let you deposit and get money out through Paypal?

I have a Paypal a/c and its linked to my PP a/c and was gonna transfer winnings there to set up on Betfair...is that viable?

the guaranteed horses in the bookies is killing betfair imo

the liquidity has fallen because of it and makes it only good for the odd mad outsider and for betting in running.

trading positions is brilliant on betfair
my fav would be antepost markets. eg the world cup coming up etc
you could back and lay your way through it fantastically through betfair

in running in general is fantastic, the whole concept of taking a profit
eg. you back a team to win, they lead 3-0, you can trade out by laying back the team at much shorter odds and taking a profit

this happened to me when i backed rapid vienna in the europa against celtic, threw E50 on them at around evens and they quickly went 3-0 an di layed them back at around 1.03(1/30) to guarantee myself a profit which came back into my account straight away to allow me to reinvest. was extremely lucky as celtic came back to draw 3-3 and if i'd done it with a bookmaker i'd prob have just let it run

however the whole betfair is 20% better odds is all bollox. they are good at some things and worse at others. i'd say its best to have at least one betfair account or maybe betdaq and one online bookie, even if your just a small punter like me

one thing i have noticed with betfair though is the liquidity( money in the markets) is shrinking rapidly and even something as basic as their forum is getting very quiet. less and less people and less and less money over there, which if it continues on that path, they are doomed as it needs loads of money swishing about it to make it work
