    Hi Guys,

Just looking for advice ...I need a quote for an Ipad/iphone app and there is an Irish site offering quotes for same but they have no real company info ie no physical address and name and phone number. Just curious if you would feel comfortable submitting an idea for a quote without this info or is it just me?

    Rule of Thumb:

Don't buy from a site with no postal/physical address.

Also, Irish businesses are supposed to have a Registered Business Number prominently displayed.

That's what I thought aswell but they don't. In there T&C's they mention a business name which I checked on the CRO and it goes back to 2002. So I am still befuddled they seem legit but you have to check out the CRO to ascetain that they are ! What would you do?

What about freelances who work from home and dont want to put their physical address on the site??

Also not all businesses have to put their registered business number on their site or documents. It only applies to LTD companies, so again in the case of sole traders etc they dont have to.

OP i would enquire first off with an email without giving too much information, ask for a contact number and from there look to see some previous work and samples etc. If they dont have any contact details at all thats fair enough, I would avoid them but saying to not deal with a business who doesnt have a physical address on their website as a rule of thumb isnt a good rule of thumb to be honest when it cant be applied to all business types or services.

    They don't get my business.

And check the headers in the reply email to see where the seller has sent the mail from. If the address is a Gmail one then don't even think about buying as you can't even check where the seller is located. Scammers love Gmail.

Email sent so awaiting feedback will be interesting to see if details on email reveal company info. Is there any legal requirements to publish company info when trading over the web in Ireland and is there anyone who monitors this?

You're quite right. I had my B2C/online shop hat on.
