    The past few nights iv being playing bf bc2 and getting nothing but laggy connections:mad:, your shooting someone then they dissapear only to end up right behind ye putting a knife in your back, iv 7mb broadband so this shouldn't be happening, i asked two of my friends who have eircom and their having the same problems, one of them actually doesn't bother playing online at night time it's that bad:(

    Is their anyone else playing bc2 with eircom at the moment having the same problem's or if your having the same problem's with a different ISP, is their anything i can actually do to fix this problem before i end up just watching some telly :)

    haven't played online at all recently but I used to get dced and lagged to death all the time, sometimes I wasn't able to connect at all.

    Once I set my PS3 up with a static IP and of course changed to the wired conection it was fine. There's guides all over the place on what the best settings are for online play so follow one of those, make sure it's a specific NAT type etc (NAT 2? iirc)

    also check the manuals to make sure there's no additional ports you should be using/forwarding for online, the ports didn't matter for COD though, a few others games got me to change the ports though so don't know about BC2

    It just seems that Eircom broadband has just generally gone to ****e. It's not even just at peak times (after 6pm) that it slows down, but it's been like it most of the day here now, and most other days. 7mb broadband but typically only get 1-3mb

    Everyone confuses Bits with bytes, for the eircom 7Mbyte connection the max download speed should be around 896Kbps. This is the one I have and my download speed is never below 800Mbps even at peak times, I've even downloaded stuff at a constant 1.2Mb, depending on how far you are from the exchange or if you live in a place where the lines don't support your speeds then you won't get the max speed otherwise quit your whining if your getting 3Mb download speeds like stevo :P

    IEEE 1541 recommends:
    * a set of units to refer to quantities used in digital electronics and computing:
          o bit (symbol 'b'), a binary digit;
          o byte (symbol 'B'), a set of adjacent bits (usually, but not necessarily, eight) operated on as a group;

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_1541

    Capital B equals Byte
    Lower case b equals bit

    I'm in Limerick, Dooradoyle area and between 6-9ish its a disaster,have a 7mb line as well and would be lucky to get 300+kb download speed at that time, its fine late at night which isnt so bad and I usually play games late but still, annoying.

    Is there a known problem with the service in that area?

    I'm not too far from that area and it works fine for me, 3mb connection.
