Absolutely terrified of them..moths and daddy long legs..its like they can smell your fear and so they flutter right in your face!! and those huge furry moths freak me out so much, just thinking about one makes me shudder.. but I don't mind butterflies, because they fly gracefully, and not like they are going to attack you..sounds weird I know, but its something I've had a phobia about for the last few years in particular...anybody else?

Moths are quite cute, they look so hairy and fluffy. If they were bigger, I'd keep one as a pet.

Long legged mosquitos are annoying though, they always get in my room somehow.

I'm the exact same, I sort of get better at dealing with them as the summer goes on, by the time I get used to killing them the summer is over and then I have to get used to dealing with them all over again the next year.

The worst case scenario is when someone leaves a window open with the light on on a hot night and 10 or more massive ones fly in.... AGH!

I literally cannot go to sleep without making sure that there are none in my room and killing any that are in the house. It can take me up to half an hour or longer to clear a room with more than one in it.

You're a really really mean person. Why would you kill them? They did nothing bad to you. And neither can they really.
No really, it's not their fault they have no brain and can't tell the difference between natural and unnatural light. But instead you just heartlessly kill them.

I hope you feel good about what you did to all these innocent moths.

Why would you hope that? If they feel good about it they'll do it more.

Because if they felt bad they obviously wouldn't do that.

It's all the more unsettling I think because it's at night when they're fluttering around the lights in the room & you can't settle or go to bed until they're out of the house...ugh!

If I knew there was one in my room, I couldn't go in there..it would have to be removed by somebody else in the house! I'd be too freaked in case it landed on me !!

    I wouldn't kill it because I'm a veggie and I couldn't haha..

daddy long legs!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can't stand them. I couldn't get back to my room once, because there was this freaky insect in there and I was afraid to face it and get rid of it myself. The problem is that I'm staying at a students hostel and it was weekend, so the most of the people were out and there was noone here to help me. I had to go in and kill that beast. I couldn't sleep afterwards. :(

awwwh no!! Yeah, they freak me out alot, especially that little squeeky noise they do when they are flying/moving...I dunno what I'd do in your situation in a hostel, probably rock back and forth in a corner and ask it to leave me alone :o or leave the door open and hope it flys into someone elses room, haha!

If you have to get rid of moths it's easier to kill them than to do anything else with them.

I'm kind of in the same boat...I'm grand if they're on the wall or something as long as they don't come near me!! Moths and Daddy Long Legs...and any big spiders really!
Oh one night my window was left open and light on for a while...heaps of them all around my room!! Had to sleep on the couch that night:o:o
Every now and then I go around the house with a hoover to get any spiders or daddy long legs etc. I can find...I used to stuff a sock into the hoover then in case any survived and got out afterwards:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    :cool::cool:

My patner is convinced I've a phobia of moths. I'm reluctant to call it a phobia, just a severe dislike of them.

I don't fear moths, I just don't want them near me. They fly around without coordination, hitting my light bulb and then flying awkwardly around. They would probably hit me most of the time if I had bothered to stay in the room or if I wasn't on the floor avoiding them.

I don't mind it when they are small, but the big ones are just bloody horrid. I can't sleep knowing there is a large moth in the room, can't shower if there is one in the bathroom.

The thought of a moth touching me.. urgh.

Some idiot in the UK nearly topped himself trying to kill a bathroom spider.

Sprayed inflammable deodorant at the spider and then light up trying to see if he got it.......almost a candidate for Darwin Awards. :p

I've always thought that moths are rather sweet. They're harmless and are generally unobtrusive. But Daddy longlegs can be really irritating, they tend to be rather active insects and are difficult to ignore.

However, killing household pests (spiders, moths, flies etc.) is quite mean and unnecessary. Any insect can be easily dealt with with a large cup and a piece of paper.

Oh my god you are me. terrified of them both. To the point where I run screaming from a room if they are in it, panicing, bumping into things. I hate them *shudder*

I have a phobia of moths and butterflies but for some reason I find butterflies so much scarier!
They're just so huge and they fly towards you and ughhhh god gross!

Don't mind moths. I just see them as poor ugly butterflies who get trapped in my room getting attracted by the light. Its hard to let them back out the window...
