Iphone insurance past 30 days

I bought an Iphone through Vodafone (billpay) a couple of months ago, and though I meant to insure it I didn't get around to looking into it until this week.

Vodafone now won't insure it because its past the 30 day policy:
Unfortunately we are only licensed to sell insurance at point of sale
at the time of connecting or upgrading to the Vodafone network (when
a contract is signed). Vodafone is not financially regulated
therefore cannot sell insurance outside of the connected contract
period (30 days) which is allowed by the financial regulator. It is
not a question of the customer being untrustworthy, we have simply
not got the accreditation as an insurance intermediary to do so.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Firstly, I'm pretty annoyed this wasn't made clear to me, as I would have definitely gotten the insurance straight away if I knew there was a time limit on it.

Secondly, there seems to be no other options available to me to get it insured at all. Phonesonline.ie have the same 30 day policy. Surely there must be a way?! The phone is only a couple of months old, and my contract is 18 months. Do I really not get to insure it during that time?! I've got money to burn for this!

I've no home insurance or anything similar. Would AppleCare be any use? I'm mostly afraid someone will knick it off me or I'll drop it etc.

    Thanks in advance...

AppleCare isn't insurance. Its an extended warranty, and won't cover anything outside manufacturing faults.

Can you put it on your house insurance as contents? Mine is, as a special item.
    Cheaper and better.

Well no offence, but this is pretty standard and has been since mobile phones came out in 1994, so you had about 16 years notice.

How about you put the "money to burn" into buying a very sterdy case for the iPhone and see if you can actually manage not to loose, break, or f&%k up the phone for the next 18 months, not really a big deal.
