    to any docs out there

is it possible to work as a private only gp from home or as a locum gp if you don't have the specialist gp training done?

    Thanks in advance

Not really. The medical council are cracking down on this. They are trying to move doctors off the general register and either onto the trainee specialist register or the specialist register. There are now stricter rules about working and prescribing within your chosen field. General practice is a registered medical speciality. Most GPs will look for locums who have vocational training.
Revenue would also be very interested if you started seeing patients in your home.

    +1 with AmcD

Although it is still possible insurance and indemnity would be problematic.
The medical council is moving towards the specialist register and I expect it to become mandatory for GP's over the next few years.

As a trained and qualified GP I find the use of the term GP to describe a doctor who is not properly trained claiming to be a GP problematic to say the least.
