Have noisy tappets on the toyota glanza turbo changed in oil in her last month with filter used castrol 10w/40
overfilled her a little but spoke to a few mechanics who said no major problem as the turbos will burn a little oil anyway
Should i use engine flush and do a oil change replace filter etc , will use castrol magnetec
    Any advice appreciated thanks

Nah just leave it, and sure if the engine blows, well it'll be one less Glanza turbo on the roads :)

common enough would not worrie about it too much, but it gets worse go to some one that knows what they are doing PM if you need names or numbers to bring her to

    1) I'd drain out the little extra
    2) I wouldn;t use a flush but I would consider using diesel engine oil of the correct viscosity for maybe 1 or 2 thousand miles for a slow gentle clean.

I suppose it depends on how much you over filled it op wheather you need to drain it.

I have a strange one though, my dad failed the nct before xmas on having over filled with oil. He had just had a service (main dealer) so couldn't understand it. He rang them and they said they purposely over fill all the cars they service as people never check their oil levels and they see plenty of cars starved of oil.

Thats pretty bad practice, especially for a main dealer.

Are you a Glanza turbo owner too, perchance ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 207 ✭✭hiluxman

there is no point in using oil flush. the glanza has shims to set the valve clearances not hydraulic tappets. flushing the oil system only works with hydraulic tappets

Your the one insulting some lads car. Its a motors forum, you come here if you like cars, a Glanza Turbo is a nice car for a young lad, maybe you should try driving a proper car.

and no I dont own a Jap car , but I dont aprreciate ignorant comments about certain types of car made by people who draw their opinions on cars from BBC2 at 8pm on sunday.

Lol is this 'attack the poster, not the post' day?

Unlike you, I insulted nobody. I made a joke about a certain type of car which are well reputed to be the hallmark of boyracers etc. If you think that attitude is fed or bred by Clarkson & co, you're sorely mistaken.

Yes, this is the motors forum, not a specific techie forum so comments should be taken in context (note presence of smiley in my first post)
Making derogatory comments about my wife (whom you don't know) exposes you for the kind person you are.

BTW, as I don't believe I know you (thankfully!), how do you feel qualified to comment on what I may or may not drive?
    'Proper car' indeed.....

I actually quite like the cars and was tempted to buy one many years ago but for various reasons decided not to.
The problem is that for every one driven sensibly, there's half a dozen feeding the boyracer stereotype.
The same goes for Twin Cam Corollas too, btw.

Actually, no, it can't apply to (read it again) making a joking comment about a car. Unless you are really lonely, insults about a car do not come anywhere near those about a wife.

My car is as good as a wife.

I treat it well, clean it every few days, show it loving care and attention, keep it healthy and it keeps me happy. Fix it when it's broke, make it better when it's good and every lad looks at it.

A wife might not get the last part though :/

Do you not understand that I or others do not stereotype twin cam or glanza turbo owners?
The redneck boyracer element do that for you.

The only way to remove the stereotyping is to make it clear to other owners who are acting the knob, that they are actually knobs. Nothing stops dumbass behaviour like peer pressure.

    LOL :D

Who buys a performance car to drive "Sensibly"? You buy it to drive the nuts off it. When it breaks you fix it and repeat the process.

Im sure your aware that these cars are designed to be revved up to the redline....thats the point on small cc engines even with forced induction, all the power is at the top end. Perhaps go onto kent cams website and look at the power bands for their cam shafts. Then maybe if you are serious about your car, or have even seen the inside of a engine, look at the graph from the Rolling road and look at where the power peaks.

So your saying that around 17% of Glanza Turbos are driven by sensible people?:pac:

Also your boys racers comments are a load of ****e, The only people I have bet up my arse at night flashing their lights for a race are middle aged morons driving German cars. Bit pathetic, just like your smart arse ignorant comments, feck off to after hours if you want to spread some manure.

On average you post 0.18 posts per day. So of all the interesting threads that are here that you could constructivley post in and contribute to, you chose to post a smart arse reply like that?

Since your so high on the ground there, maybe you should read the charter and you would realise that you are displaying symptoms of a troll.

    Anyway, off-topic, bye bye.

Actually I commented on a stereotype.

An 'actor' like Arnie stereotyped himself by acting in the likes of Commando, Predator, Red Heat 'lots of killing, hard-man' roles.

Drivers of whatever car typecast themselves at times too. BMW drivers most publically with the story/poll recently about everyone thinking they're the most annoying because of the way they drive etc. If most BMW drivers didn't drive like that, then there would be no stereotype.

    Same with Glanzas.

This is not saying that every driver of BMWs or Glanzas is an idiot driver, however.

As someone that drives what would be considered by many to be a "Boy-Racer car", I can't help but agree with Pique 100%.

I can quite safely say the vast majority or Glanza/Starlet/Civic drivers that get up my hole anywhere I go wouldn't exactly be the kind of clientèle that I'd like to share a pint with.

Accuse me of stereotyping if you will. It's an opinion I've formed over a few years of driving 'modified' cars. I don't think there's a macdonalds car park around the country that hasn't got their share of 'residents'.

I don't particularly like glanza's. I don't think they are a nice looking car, far from it. But I do find it funny when people jump the gun to defend a specific type of car and their respective drivers. It's just like all the golf TDi drivers who think their cars are the next best thing to a Veyron.

Just get over it. What I find funny is the amount of people who liked Pique's original comment and yet so many failed to agree!!!

Yea but being the big man and making a piss poor derogatory comment behaind a computer screen on a motoring board about a lads car, is the same context as making the comment in a pub:rolleyes:
