Break down of Fans - Lost

Okay, reviewing the threads is interesting as they fans seem to break down into various groups.

For a laugh I'm going to give my interpretation and sorry If I offend anyone.

    Lost Agnostics

Myself included. People for whom the boxes had to be ticked and the i's and t's dotted and crossed. Not explaining the numbers- not good enough. Outrigger shoot out mystery. Lighthouse, MIB's mysterious intrinsic knowledge- "Because I'm SPECIAL Mother!!". They sat down at the end of series three with an end date and they couldn't figure out how to make everything tie in and the blanket defence is "we'll tell it the way we want to". We are living and hoping in vain that everything will be resolved in the last episode because it's like an ex that cheated on us. We used to Love her, but the bitch broke our hearts and deep down we only want to go back to the way it was but the love and trust are gone and they're not coming back. We want to see the mysteries resolved and now we're stalking her facebook to see what she's up to.

    Fanboys

The unyielding unwavering defenders of the Lost Arc. Things don't add up, holes in the plot, either don't care, don't agree and don't really know yet. Jack pulls off a mask to reveal a Scooby Doo ending and that he was the Janitor all along- Even this will be hailed as brilliance from the writers who had a plan all along and if you play series one backward you can find all the clues when Hurley plainley says JACOB in Season One, Episode X at 2.41. Would gladly suck the producers off in a back alley for a signed poster. Lost is BRILLIANT.

    Haters

Got fed up in season one with all the cliffhanger endings and went off to watch two and a half men with fart jokes- ah that's better, there there brain.
Come back here to bitch and moan and watch the odd episode and say things like "This is crap, makes no sense.....etc and rag at the show whenever the Soccer Boards are quiet and they need some puppies to Kick.

    Genuinely Lost

Jumped on the bandwagon in the last season or two. "Who's that, what's this, oh what happened". Are not overly fussy about facts, just kinda coming along for the ride. Kinda like when you meet some mates that have been on the lock all day and you skull a few whiskeys to catch up and suddenly you're on the bar screaming opinions and singing Ragling Road and telling everyone to SHUT THE HELL UP

    Character Fans

Some people could care less about the quasi science quasi religious themes. They just want to see Hurley say "Dude" and watch Sawyer punch something. Have a fondness for posting semi naked pics of the female cast characters, and for some reason Jack seems to be like their Nadir, they either love him or want to go back in time and strangle him as a baby.

    The nutters

People that ascribe much much much much more meaning and thought to the show than anyone thought possible. Exhibit A: www.lostisagame.com That lady needs to get out more. There are others. I would name them but they will come to my house, kill my family and break my knees.

    The Hurleys

Inspired by the response below. Whatever dude, it's just a TV show.

Feel free to add/ delete / add indignant responses or subscribe to the above.

What about people like me who like the show yet accept that it has faults and there are lots of things that will be left unexplained.

I'd be almost a fanboy, but I can still see the flaws in the show and know it wasn't all perfectly mapped out from the start, lots of plotholes, and I have been disappointed at times throughout the entire run of the show with the way certain things panned out, but overall I have absolutely loved it.

Sums me up to a tee. I hated the last episode for its vagueness when the majority on here have scored it a 9 or a 10. All hope is lost for me I think!

Still have faith the finale will turn it around....:o

Fantastic. Throw in a bit of bitterness and it's a perfect analogy for how I feel about this show!

I'd like to think I'm 5n the 'agnostic' category but I suppose i could be in the nutter category and incapable of seeing it. You tell me. :D
    Good post.

Then there are the seriously rich lost fans.
Dangerous downloads: An unfortunate German woman used her smartphone to download an episode of Lost, above, while on holidays in France and came home to a bill of €46,000

I'd be somewhere between a Lost Agnostics and a Hurley

I think I'm in the Agnostic camp too. I so want it to work out at the end but I'm concerned.
People that ascribe much much much much more meaning and thought to the show than anyone thought possible. Exhibit A: www.lostisagame.com That lady needs to get out more.

Ha yeah I was thinking how it's a pity the writers didn't put as much thought into it as she did. Feel a bit bad as unless there's a big swerve coming all that work was in vain. At least it was an interesting theory I suppose but damn, way too much work went into that.

I'd be in that gap between agnostic and fanboy...I am happy with the answers I am getting....Mother made it clear the 2 lads Jacob and...is he Cecil now?......haven't a clue what they are at and that spiralled the sh*tstorm we have had the pleasure of watching.........a whole bunch of folk doing a whole bunch of mental stuff for no apparent reason....as I said in another thread.....the only thing missing is for the last scene to be like Holy Grail....big Jack team versus Locke team stand off only for the fuzz to show up and make them all pack it in before someone gets seriously hurt......then maybe a proper quick look at Kates arse.......then fade to black.

Pretty much me except I love the show :D But I try not to bog myself down with theories or thinking about what will happen next

I'd be an agnostic, but with an unfortunately crappy memory, so during every episode I keep turning to my other half going "hey, did we know about that"?
The show has absolutely tied me in knots, but I know, deep down, in the part of my brain that remembers stuff, that that part of my brain loves it, so I listen to that part and keep watching, hoping some day that that part of my brain might communicate to the rest of my brain and tell me WTF was actually happening. I think because of that, somehow I believe that the writers havent let me down, and that its my own fault, and that i'll make sense of it eventually.
God thats sad! Incredibly incredibly pathetic. Them lost boys have made a state of me :(

what about people who have started rewatching season 1 and now reliase they planned it from the start.

I thought this thread was going to be about hard core lost fans who suffer a nervous break down after the last episode, when it dawns on them there will be no more lost. Hmm maybe they will set up a lost help line like when the back street boys broke up!

By breaking down lost fans by category and saying they need to get out more and ascribe too much to the show and stuff that is not applicible:

    that is Irony folks.

1 - the numbers are numbers. they served their purpose.
2 - outrigger - seriously thats one of your big mysteries?
3 - lighthouse, it showed the candidates names and was magical (the whole show)
4 - intrinsic knowledge? a twin who was raised by a women who killed his mother and lied about the world left to a camp of strangers who clearly were like the dharma folk and managed to reliase their was something odd about metal being attracted towards certain areas - ye how did he ever figure that out? ''ooh attracts metals, thats new, maybe it will help me leave cos this island is special cause crazy lady showed me the light/center of the island''

the light never worked - he stayed on the island

the whole point of that scene was he has been trying to leave before he was smokie for about a 1000 years or more
the protector would kill 30 people to stop them etc etc

you are getting caught up on the small insignificant details.

I would say I'm closest to agnostic, but also have a little bit of fanboy about me. I'm demanding answers from monday's finale and have been irritated by many things this series, but I without a doubt every week look forward to Lost.

I am an agnostic begging to be proven wrong :)

[just tell them folks to have a listen to the interview of the producers posted here so they can realize that there wrong!

I don't think that's the main part of the question being asked, its more to do with how the hell did he know what he was doing with the wheel and how did he know that by playing around with the wheel, the light and the water he wud get off the island. Ben later went on to turn the wheel in order to move the island and because of that he was transported off the island. This is exactly what MIB planned to do before he was knocked out by Mammy, so how did he know this way back when. He just knew it is just don't cut it!
