    Guys,
I have a simple Skyline receiver which I got recently and I am delighted to get the RTE stations with smashing reception on DTT.

I am also delighted as I have the ITV/CH4 suite of stations, which on analogue had disappeared.

However, my BBCs can be poor and can be so bad (depending on weather) that they are unwatchable. Also, one evening I had some SKY stations (Sky news, Virgin1+1) but they have not returned in the last week.

My question is; (I am presuming the UK channels are coming from the same Welsh transmitter, Arfon perhaps) why are the ITV/CH4 stations so consistently good while the BBCs are not and is there anything I can do about it? Perhaps adjust the direction of the aerial, get a better aerial, get a better receiver etc.

    Thanks in advance,

Ask a local aerial installer to put in a group B aerial for you and get him/her to use a meter to peak the aerial for arfon.
You aerial is probably slightly off beam.

Also reception from wales for the last 2 or 3 days has been subject to brief drop outs due to sea fog [too much of it,it's always out there but right now theres massive banks of it].

    Arfon is freeview light.
Getting sky news etc means you occasionally get channels from a different full freeview tx probably llandonna.

Id your tv set to auto tuning by the way? deactivate that as it might mean your tv retunes to the wrong freeview tx at certain times and stays there which could be why you have poor itv.

You should be receiving 41 and 44 only.

If you get a hd decoder, you may also receive hd services from there on ch47.
It's crucial you have a good group B aerial and amp though and that it is alligned properly and the cables are good etc.
Get an installer,a reliable one to check that for you.
