What would you do?

Hi, I'm wondering if you could give me some advice and let me know what you would do in my situation. I did my test today but failed as I got 11 green marks :(

However I feel that my inspectors lack of professionalism put me off and made me feel uncomfortable.

As the weather was nice today the ca was very warm, I had the air con set but throughout the test the inspector was making it stronger for a few minutes and then turning it down, then making it stronger and turning it down etc. over and over again between instructions. Twice he made a mistake with his directions and had to change what he saud as he was fiddling with the secondary controls.

At another stage I was at a junction waiting to turn left onto the main road. There were three cars approaching and close to me so I waited, as I was waiting the instructor said 'awh you should have went' I said 'oh but I thought you weren't supposed to alter the seed of oncoming traffic' to this he replied 'well if you take that attitude we'll be sitting here all day' I began to apologise but he ignored me and was looking out the window, i didn't know whether to drive or to wait for a response.

Throughout the whole test he was rude, he never greeted me at the beginning or said a word to me. He was aso 15 minutes late for the test.

I am not challenging the outcome of the test but I found his lack of professionalism to be dreadful.

My instructor is outraged and wants me to make a complaint but I'm afraid it will affect me when I try again (I applied for a canellation straight away)

What would you do? Is it best to leave it?

Just chalk it up to experience, hope it goes better for you next time.

He sounded like a right ass. I'd just move on and focus on the next one, it's not worth the hassle for a free test.
ps- Do you mean 11 Blue marks?? Green doesn't affect the test.

U Sounds un-professional al-right but that's what you have to deal with. In regards to the complaint I wouldn't think it would affect you next time as the tester is un-likely to know of the complaint as it would be sent to the central office (if written). Under the circumstances I think you should complain, may get a refund out of it or something :)

You should have said to him not to touch the controls, that's a big no-no for me. Only I get to play with the controls cos I'm the driver and it my car and my rules. RAAAAHHHHHHHH:mad:

    :p:p

I'd have the letter written now, with all the details, the date the test took place and the tester's name. Then I'd put it away and post it after I passed my next test :)

    I like this suggestion.

One driving instructor I had told me during a pretest that one of the testers in the centre deliberately put people off with his attitude to warn me in case I had the misfortune of carrying this passenger.

But I think because he is so unprofessional, he uses the quota that he requires to fail. i.e. he wouldn't have passed you even if you did a great test. So I suppose what I'm trying to say is don't let this tester put a downer on your confidence.

And having done my test quite a number of times before passing, failing made me a nervous wreak for the next test. But it made passing so much sweeter, I felt like I won the lotto :)

Remember they are in your car, they should be grateful for the free spin!

Best of luck for the next test. But I'm sure you'll do great.

I would put something in writing to the RSA. I would stress in the letter that your not looking to have the test results looked at or thrown out and given another test. You are writing to complain about the attitude of the tester and nothing more. It's all well and good for people to say chalk it up to experience but if people don't say a tester is being unprofessional they won't ever be called on it. It can be very hard to complain as alot of people dismiss it as sour grapes over failing but if you do really feel he acted in a manner that was unprofessional for a civil servant then submit a complaint. At the very least a note will be made and if other people also make complaints regarding his attitude then he should be called on it.

Huh!! what did I do? I was just expressing a view. I did not mention anyone's name or anything, slander anyone or make a false comment. It was hardly the worst comment on here. Just that I feel the OPs pain. There was no need for that tester to treat him/her like that since students are nervous enough without this, that's all.Oh well I should be grateful I suppose;).Consider my hand slapped:D

I agree. There's no point in leaving it till you pass your test. You might as well do it now but specify that you are only looking to inform them about it.

Doing my test again tomorrow... :(
