I was summonsed for speeding in a 50km zone going 67km. I was giving the fine in the post and set it aside looking to sort it out later, over two months later i get this feeling that i forget to do something and figure out what it was. Jump in the car and drive under the speed limit to the post office to pay the fine which increased, after a few seconds the little old lady tells me its been refused due to it been a few days late. I did manage to get a reciept of her which i still have.
The question is what should i expect when i go to court next week?
Do i need to bring legal aid?
Do i get dressed up in suit?
Whats the process i will have to go through?
Help me, im a nervous wreck..

I'd suggest you plead guilty. Apologise for wasting the court's time but you did try and pay it but was a little late. Wear a suit. Speak respectfully to the judge and you'll probably come out with a fine of about €200. Oh and 4 penalty points...Obviously this is not legal advice. If you want that, you should consult a solicitor.

Agreed, go and be honest but don't expect your excuse (honest as it may be) to have any effect. I cringe when I see people up there going "but... but..." and interrupting the judge - you may get lucky but don't count on it. Let that be a nice surprise if it happens.
