ok so Ive just met a girl and now this could become an issue. a couple of times a month I have a violent dream and end up kicking the wall beside me in my sleep and the impact wakes me up. generally its a kick which wouldnt harm anyone next to me as it would go over their legs and hit the wall but this morning I punched directly to my left!1

I can see 1 solution besides not sharing a bed, I could sleep on the left side as Im right handed so would be using my right hand/foot. was curious to know if most males sleep on the right and females on the left? I dont think I can stop the dreams, tho it could have been the nuts and cheese, not exactly sure the cause.

well todays 'fight' was with my brother. he did some training in kick boxing recently, I did some muay thai. hes going off to australia very soon. we didnt get along during our late childhood but theres been nothin bad happened the past couple of yrs.
so the dream was him starting a fight against me and then me throwing a punch which woke me up!

last one before that was a security man trying to stop me running into a music festival site after jumping the wall, I gave him(the wall)a really big kick.

I do have dreams about past family issues that would have no violence and I have violent dreams with strangers the odd time but the punching and kicking can come during a morning when most of the dreams where pleasant enough.

Your remembering them which is good, I'd suggest maybe going to a dream analist, i can justa bout deal with my own dreams...

I used to have dreams where I was being attacked bye ware wolves, and vampires etc, and constantly fighting, It was pretty awfull but it transpired that the goulish creatures within my dream wher emy feelings. and i was consatntly figting them at the time, or didnt know how to deal with them.

You could start a dream diary for a few weeks there very usefull.
you can kinda build ona patteren, of whats going on with your dream life, then after a few weeks begin to look at when the more violint dreams maybe take note to what happened to you that day...

maybe you where envovled in some verbal confrontation, if that makes sence?

I don't mean to make light of your situation OP, but I just saw this and thought of this thread.

Find yourself or get yourself refered to a therapist who's from the Jungen school.
You've got under lying issues which are coming out of your subconcious when you are sleeping and they can be dealt with so that you sleep with out fear of giving your bed partner a black eye in the night.

    Do you eat cheese alot?
When my BF eats cheese near bedtime he goes mental in his sleep. His dad woke him up when he was screaming and punching the walls??

Also, is it when you sleep with this girl that you get them. It could be instinctual?? Protection and all that?

And I sleep on my Bf's right side?? Meh... I always roll away from him at some point!:)

there are some useful links over at the sleeping and dreaming forum and a quick google pulls up some info on rem sleep disorders ...link
in a person with REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD), the paralysis that normally occurs during REM sleep is incomplete or absent, allowing the person to "act out" his or her dreams. RBD is characterized by the acting out of dreams that are vivid, intense, and violent. Dream-enacting behaviors include talking, yelling, punching, kicking, sitting, jumping from bed, arm flailing, and grabbing. An acute form may occur during withdrawal from alcohol or sedative-hypnotic drugs.

could be something simple like a particular medication that triggers bouts, if it's genuinely worrying you speak to your doctor.

Simple solution. Just seduce your enemies and lure them into your bed. Now your greatest weakness has become your greatest strength.
