All EU countries have extradition back to Ireland (European Arrest Warrant).
You hear of drug lords and criminals going to Spain and Holland - is this because it is harder for the law here to get them back from there?

If you went to say the UK would it be easier to be extradited?

EAW and extradition law is very complex. If a country has signed upto the international tenants by which europe works, then specific provable charges must be levied against the accused and endorsed by the High Court , that in turn is transmitted to whatever country that person is in. They then have to be arrested (if they can be found that is) and brought before the courts

this is the difficult part - detecting and arresting and this is where bringing criminals home to face prosecution.

the offences with which we would charge them must be recognised in the other country they are residing in. and they have certain rights to have documentation before any court would extradite them so its complex and very time consuming
