  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 211 ✭✭djgaillimh

    No mention of either.

The 2.2 SDK is out already, though. Which is encouraging.

HTC say the Desire and other 2010 models will be updated in the second half of 2010:

    http://www.androidcentral.com/most-2010-htc-android-phones-will-get-froyo-2010
if your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades.

    Yep.

LauncherPro is rather nice though, so that will fill in for Sense for a while.

I would imagine Froyo will be out soon - as soon as physically possible as Google know all to well iphone 4 is coming very soon as further leaks are happening and Apple need to ship it now as people are not going to buy an iphone when they know a new one is coming so soon.

People at i/o got a droid and an evo - two flippin phones! for 400 dollars (and flights etc) but still they get a great time too.

"Coming soon" seems to be as good as we're getting in terms of dates. Serves me right for getting wound up thinking we'd get it right away!:o

Apparently the Nexus One is getting an OTA update tonight with the Moto Droid before the end of the week but some people are saying it's for a june release...

Do you think this will be like the last update on nexus one. Once one person got it you where able to manualy download and install it. Over the air it could take ages to appear on your phone.

I already thought my android phone was a lot better than when i had an iphone. Once it gets this update it make the iphone 3gs look like a nokia 3210 :)

I got the last update in February about 2 days after it was released. They're already hinting that the next update will be at the end of the year(Gingerbread) so it seems Google want to keep pushing the performance and spec forward. I for one think it's great,no more running out to get the latest and greatest phone on the market. Sure others will come out with bigger processors and more memory but my 'old' phone will always have the latest updates.:)

Doesnt seem to be any update on the trackball notification. so might be time to go the root route!

Can it be that difficult to open something like that up to user preferences?! especially when so many people want it:rolleyes:

Yeah,i was hoping they would enable it but it appears to only change for Twitter notifications in 2.2,not email and sms. Pity.

If an OTA update was released for the desire, would rooted devices be able to update the same way as non rooted devices? Is it just a matter of clicking yes to update with an OTA do you know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,617 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

OTA will undo your root. Check this link for the explanation.
(Link is for Hero, but same applies to other phones - it will remove your recovery console and make it very difficult to put it back on)

Am I the only one who thinks that these iphone4.0 'leaks' are more really a cunning marketing ploy ???

    No, you're not.

The "found on a public toilet floor" story received fairly universal rolling of eyes.
