I've never noticed that before. Odd.

Was just having a look at the Knuckles wiki page and came across the following -

'According to official Sonic Team polls, Knuckles is the fourth most popular character in the series, following behind Tails, Shadow, and Sonic.'

Shadow?! People put Shadow ahead of Knuckles and Tails?! Wtf?!

    I second the sentiment.

It's a bit like batman and spiderman sequels, the more extra characters they shoehorn in, the worse they get, and conversely when it's only Sonic it's always better.
When they add in Amy Rose, Shadow, that feckin' cat, the robot and the rest of the leperous crew it all get so tiresome.
Roll on the new Sonic game, lets hope they don't screw it up!

Sonic, a game about speed, colour, platforms and loop da loops, and they let you play as a big cat, called Big, with a fishing rod.... Sonic Adventure on the DC, you could have been so good.... IF they had only focused on Sonic instead of all the ancillary characters!
That said I did enjoy playing as Knuckles, it was like Mario in a Sonic game, more of an exploration focus, climbing around the Casino level I seem to remember was fun, but not as much fun as pissing through it as Sonic!

    Amy Rose

Leave Amy Rose alone, she's been in the series since Sonic CD. Also if she wasn't an anthropomorphic hedgehog and imaginary I'd tap it.

    I count 3 plus Sonic&Knuckles.

    Anyone interested in Sonic 4?

    Anyone interested in Sonic 4?

It looks like a game so disappointing it will rape my childhood memories of the Sonic series, just like the latest Rocket Knight Adventure game on XBLA and PSN.

Don't play it, then your childhood will remain an unraped virgin ;)

I still have to play sonic cd, supposed to be fantastic, is it?

but for me there are onlt 4 sonic games 1,2,3 + knuckles.

Sonic 4 could be good, I wont judge just quite yet, but from the trailer sonic looks to be moving very slow, and who the **** wants that in a sonic game, I want the game at 500Hz and my eyes melting from the speed!

That game looks like absolute balls. Have you played it? Or was it ever released?

You can trial it on Xbox Live at the moment anyway.

Played it last night... it's horribly clunky and as bad as the platform bits are the flying sections are a hundred times worse.

I played the Trial. It's not a bad game but it's not brilliant and really a RKA follow up should be brilliant. The worst thing about the game is that it just doesn't feel like a RKA game. the thing about RKA and Sparkster (SNES, the megadrive game never happened!) is that they have more in common with a Contra game. Short platforming bits with awesome bosses and multiple mid bosses. RKA is just a platformer kind of free form unlike the tight design of RKA. The guys on Hardcore Gaming 101 are very disappointed as well. They say only 1 of the 5 bosses is decent, mid bosses are nonexistant and replaced with being locked in a room with multiple respawning enemies and the game is stupidly short considering you can get shadow complex or Cave Story for around the same price.

I would have rather Konami got WayForward to make the game. With Contra 4, Shantae and Boy and his Blob they really know how to make excellent 2D games.

Supposedly, the Sonic fans love it. I think it's terrible. The levels are really big but really badly designed, there's no set pieces or memorable parts in the levels. For example, you could probably play through a level in the megadrive games now and be familiar with every section of the level. In Sonic CD it all blurs into one and it's not helped that the levels don't look any different than each other, they don't stand out and end up looking like pallete swaps even though they aren't.

Have to agree with retro on this, Sonic CD levels feel like big spread out maps with little to do, just to bounce around randomly until you reach the end of the level.
I much prefer the tighter game of Sonic 2 and 3.
Best Sonic game ever is Sonic Jam on the Saturn, the original cart games from the Megadrive plus a lovely proper 3D hub world that hints at what might have been, instead of that Flickies Island bull**** Sega tried to trick us with, Saturn deserved to die on the shelves after that pathetic effort.

I'll give sonic CD a try one of these day anyway but i never played soinic jam but doesnt look great! Sonic needs to be 2-D end of!!!!

even 2-D gameplay in a 3-D enviroment would be alright!

Lads I have to ask... what are yisser opinions of the two Sonic Compilations?

    @Jack, isn't Sonic 4 going to be 2D gameplay in a 3D environment?

I rented that out once when I was a kid expecting great things.

My mind could not compute that a Sonic game could be bad. I was confused for days :(
