Clock ticking on JSB?

    Hi there.

I signed on, at the start of the year. Work is very hard to come by as everyone here knows :( Finding it hard, but the JSB every week is getting me by.

I know some people who have gone on JSA and have had horrible tales of long waits to get the money. So I'm very worried about when the JSB comes to en end.

How long does it normally last for?
I asked on my sign on day in March, and they said something like 'you have 200 credits/days left' it was not all that clear to me- does that mean weekdays are what does it mean?

Would I get notice that the time is ticking on the JSB?

    Thanks

    Each week is six days.

SW works on a six day week (monday to Saturday) so from when you were told 200 days, you had about 33 weeks.

In advance of you running out, you should be invited to apply for Job Seekers Allowance.

More than likely you have 12 months. Maybe 9 if you have not been working for the required years. I would apply for the JSA at least 3 months before your JSB runs out as there are horror stories (like mine) of being left with no income what so ever during the switch over.

I would have thought that since the social welfare office knew they had a 2 month waiting list they would give me an interview before my JSB ran out.
