If you have no luck finding the owner, check the history for what looks like a recent race time (I usually know whats a race in my garmin history because there are 3 or 4 activities on the same day i.e warmup, race, cooldown) and you should be able to able to work out what race it was, find the results online and find a name....might be a member of a club which would then be easy to track down through here.

Wow! Two in the one day. The best way to identify a unit is to get the unit id off the watch. On the 405, you touch Menu -> Settings -> System -> About.
I presume there's something similar on the 305.

The person who lost can get it off their PC if they haven't written it down.
On Windows Vista you can get it from

    C:\Users\<Your name>\Application Data\Garmin\Device\<Unit Id>

The unit id will be a number like this: 3505641234

Or upload their runs onto Sportstracks which should identify where they live! But that would be hassle...

    Hi Peckham

Please tell me how to do this ... its an expensive item and they have got to be upset at the loss.

    Thanks

Maybe someone in a car stole it and drove away?

(ps. you're a good person trying o find the owner.)

I have a 405 and I know the unit number on the back of the watch is linked to my product registration details with Garmin. So maybe if you email Garmin product support Product.Support@garmin.com and quote the number they can get in touch with the registered owner and let them know you have the watch.

Good on you for trying to find it's owner.

Depends on the model. If it's a 305 then you'll need the cradle for it to sit in and hook up to your computer. If it's a 405, then you'll need to ask one of the 405 owners here.

Sounds like a great idea to change the strap. I think wrist movement allows slippage and it isnt secure in the little loop. what are the options other than mounting it on the bike?

They should know the details of the last run. Get them to bring along their laptop, upload the route, and make sure it tallies with their description.

Garmin will fix it for you:

They may change you for the privilege though.

Depends on who you get on the day fearless, my cracked watch was approved when they saw my picture. I put on the poor stupid me scenario rather than demanding a replacement

I sent the same picture on to another boardie to use for his watch and they refused to cover his. I think they charged him 99 dollars to fix it

These cracks are too commonplace for ther 310 triathlon watch, they need to offer some type of small protector on it
