    hi im using images for my menu on my joomla site and was is the a way to add alt tags

    Joomla adds the ALT tag already and uses the menuItems 'alias' for it.

    it doesnt show as a bubble - does it matter - also would there be any other way to improve seo on a joomla site

    ALT's aren't supposed to show as a bubble, that what title= is for.

    There are zillions of ways to improve Joomla SEO. Google is your friend.

    Make sure to fill in the keywords and details as accurately as possible in the article metadata section for each article.Make use of h1/2/3 etc in the format area of the text input on each article and make relevant use of the title section in the system parameters on your home page in menu item manager.Just a few ideas.
