Peugeot 307 won't start

    How’s it going folks,

I am having a bit of trouble with my 2002 Peugeot 307 2.0 HDI. Yesterday evening when I got out of work the car wouldn’t start. There was a slow chug of the engine when I turned the key then nothing. Thankfully after a few prayers to every God in the sky it started and away I went.

When I got home I turned the car off and though I better try this again. Turned the key and there one small whimper of a chug from the engine then nothing. Turning the key after that does nothing at all, not even a peep from the damn thing.

The lights turn on in the dash and the radio works. I got a man to come over with some jump leads and we tried to fire it up but again the damn thing did nothing when I turned the key. You can just hear a click coming from the engine when you turn the key.

Do any of you guys on here know what the problem might be or if it could be a simple fix? Payday isn’t to next week so I could do with this fix being as cheap as possible.

    Many thanks in advance guys.

It could be the starter or a lose connection to the starter. Try pushing it and jump starting it on the clutch. If it starts like this there is a good chance the problem is starter related.

The fact that it wouldn't start with the jump leads should rule out the battery itself anyway. I presume you checkd that there is a good connection to the battery when you were trying to start it with the leads.
