Yesterday I touched on insanity

    It wasn't nice.

Let me tell you my story
firstly.. i would consider myself a borderline gambling addict

I have very good negative instincts when it comes to placing bets
however.. my brain and logic often overides this instinct....
some see it as a good thing, trust me its not.

On monday morning I decided to put 400 euro into my online betting account

by monday evening i was down 180 euro.. my balance was 220
I wasn't 2 worried as i was just loosening up for a big monday and tuesday night..

my target markets are usually soccer, american football, basketball and financials
monday and tuesday night were very big events

la lakers took on the suns

la lakers had a -2 first quarter handicap at 5/6(i think)
    i bet 50 and won

    next up 3rd quater over/under 53.4 @ 5/6
bet 50 on "over" and won... this was very close kobe bryant drew a foul with 1second left
it gave me a little scare so i called it a night

tuesday morning.. i made alot of small bets on the financials
mostly wins... by tuesday evening my balance was a little over 400 euro

tuesday night saw the boston celtics take on orlando magic

my eyes opened up when i seen celtics with a +7.5 handicap @5/6
every instinct told me to put every penny down on this
celtics had already bullied orlando off the court in the first game
and although orlando are good enough to beat the celtics.. there was no way they would beat them by 3 scores

logic.. stepped in the way... 400 is too risky, i placed 60 on them and won(celtics won by 4 i think)
now i was just tipping a little under 500 euro

wednesday morning came... time for the financials
    uk market looking good
placed a few bets... im up to 670
what a great number 670... its almost luring me into doing something stupid

wouldn't it be great... if i somehow could make an easy bet to get a nice round 700

    oh look

1/20 on the uk not dropping below 16222(not the actual number)
    what a coincidence.. if i put down 600 i will win 30...
now for those that have bet financials
you can understand how hard it is for a figure to drop by 17

my instincts told me its a pointless GAMBLE
my brain said... its an 89% bullish market... 16239 is the lowest its been today... there not a chance it can drop that far before 3.30(2 mins away)

    ok... brain you win
600 on uk not to drop below 16222

10 seconds later the market was at 16224
another few seconds it was at 16220

then it popped up to 16223... just to slap me in my stupid face
before remaining below my target figure untill my 600 euro was sitting in someone elses bank account.

this story actually has a happy ending
but ive typed enough for now haha.. i'll tell you if you are interested

All the dead cert fan boys should have a read off this.
Back on topic, good to hear you had a happy ending.

Do you think it's time to take 'borderline' out of this statement and give it up completely?

    Genuine question, not a dig.

Why would he want to give it up ? Genuine question.

Well, if he thinks he's a borderline addict and is betting in that manner then it's probably the correct thing to do before a full addiction sets in.

Many bookies have gone out of business.

    yes indeed
again, that price of 1/20 should be more along the lines of 1/50 in my opinion
its like betting on barcelona to beat st pats.

well I would say borderline because its more of an oportunist thing
    i havn't placed a bet in a few months
however when if i am in the situation to bet.. 9 times out of 10 i will

It would be good to hear you had a happy ending if you told us what it was???

    heres the happy ending

with 70 euro to my name
I had a few target bets
    first was northampton at 11/10
i threw 20 on that... and won

at the same time i put 50 on sevilla to win first half @ 2/1

lucky the pay out came quick enough for me to place my final bet

you should really only do these bets if you have knowledge of a manager
    and his tactics
also with live betting you should always be watching the event

    i had 194 euro

I knew that sevilla had the pace over atletico and the counter attack would come into play as the game reached its climax

i waited for atletico to turn up the pressure
and with that.. sevilla odds stretched out to 7/2 to score the second goal.

i placed my bet, 150 euro on sevilla to score the 2nd goal @ 7/2

dying moments of the game... make or break time
just about to accept failure when navas gets a break booom gooool

    675 euro delighted

go to account... withdraw... 600 euro

the rest i play with in world cup

if thats not a happy ending... i dont know what is

i also have 30 euro worth of pending bets

If i was to have a moral to the story it would be this

its better to lose 30 euro on an evns bet
than to chance 600 euro on a 1/20

risk should be dealt with using your instincts, there is no such thing as a dead cert, unless you have knowledge of an actual fix going on.
