Wasn't sure if this belonged in the sticky, but hey.

Am curious about wedding ring prices and what are about ballpark for a set of rings.

Based in Malaysia so in theory prices should be cheaper but want to checkpoint so I don't make a mistake. Exchange rate not helping at the moment.

We have seen ball-park figures of about
RM3500 - EUR862 - White Gold his and hers (both rings)
RM5000 - EUR1200 - Platinum his and hers (both rings)

These are simple traditional designs - your average wedding ring, no stones, not a big huge chunk of metal.

    Are those prices good/bad? Thanks!

I think the ball park price on platinum is good for 2 rings by Irish standards. asking price in Ireland i think was 650€ for small womens platinum ring and about 1100 for gents whjen I went looking...

why not ask for a quote on palladium too while you're at it?

    Checkout Diamonds-USA.com
great selection and much cheaper than Ireland, not sure how it would compare to Malaysia.
Maybe go up to Surat Thani Thailand check the prices but gold is v high right now

Thanks for the input, any one else got input or a price on white gold.

The platinum ones have a nice little inset (inside the ring) blue sapphire ... (something blue) ... and if the price is right I'd be inclined to go that route ... am woeful for knocking taking care of the one ring I have (as in knocking the ****e out of it) so platinum may be a wise investment.

Palladium is even harder again and a lot cheaper.

€1200 for both platinum rings seems like a good price, though with a platinum band for the man, the price is very much dependent on the thickness of the band. I have a 5mm band, but the 4mm band was something like €200 cheaper.

So it appears to be a good price, but how wide and thick are the rings?

As Beruthiel says, palladium is a great alternative to platinum, and only you will know the difference really (but who cares anyway). I went for platinum because palladium was insanely light, and I preferred the weight on my finger :D

In terms of wear, I got a relatively rough buffing on mine but even so, after 8 months of use there's the odd scratch here and there which I can see. So I might get an even rougher polish. The difference though between gold rings I've had is that there are no chunks missing from the platinum, only the most minor of surface scratches.

We got plain bands, no stones. Platinum for me and white gold for him. 800 for the two (in Dublin). Prices I got quoted in Dublin ranged from 800 - 1200 depending on the jewellar. Only bought in the last few weeks so they are recent prices.

Edited to say - the platinum is 3mm, the white gold is 5mm.

+1, went twth palladium rather than platinum, fair bit cheaper, 13 ish% harder than platinum i think and relatively tarnish proof, literally had examples of platinum/palladium/9&19ct white gold to compare from in jewellers and much preferred the matte finish of the palladium one and went with that

We both got white gold, mine is a simple band and his has a fancy cut in it. We paid 600 for them in Fuerteventura but I had thought at the time that it was a bit pricey.
